Wilbur and Katherine Schnitker

Wilbur Schnitker is Musician in Residence, and Emeritus Professor of Music at Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio. He joined the faculty in 1942 and is now musician in residence and emeritus professor of music.

The Schnitker partnership began on the campus of Carthage College where they were student musicians. For more than 60 years their discipline has become legendary. Wilbur has been known to spend intermission of one performance practicing for another.

He earned national prominence during the 1970 bicentennial celebration of Beethoven’s birth, performing the entire cycle of 32 Beethoven sonatas for piano from memory during a two week period.

She is an accomplished pianist and harpsichordist and has presented recitals on both instruments.
