DOUGLAS LYLE
1925 – 2004
Dr. Lyle studied with Jess Meltzer of the Minneapolis Symphony; Bernard Greenhouse, member of the Beaux Arts Trio and the Juillard Quartet; Janos Starker at Indiana University and Lowell Creitz of the Pro Arte Quartet. He received BA & BS degrees from the Univ. of Minnesota and MA and PhD from the Univ. of Wisconsin.
Doug Lyle taught at Baylor University and was public school orchestra director in Faribault, MN and West Allis, WI. From 1961 to 1981 he was associate professor of music at Muskingum College in New Concord, OH.
Dr. Lyle played in the Milwaukee Symphony as well as symphonies in Waukesha, WI. Wheeling, WV, and Mansfield, OH. He was principal cellist of the Southeastern Ohio Symphony for 38 years.
